SCOTLAND COMPETITION RULES
RULES
1. Entry forms
should be completed for each model and should be submitted to the
Competitions Secretary with the
model before the exhibition opens by 10:00am on the Friday.
Please note that all forms and/or models should be handed in to the Stewards Office.

2. All models entered in a
competition must be made available for display in the Association
Showcases (where applicable), or at a location agreed by the
Competition Secretary by 10.00am . All entries require to be
on display for the duration of the show. In the case of models
forming part of a layout (including rolling stock), this fact should
be clearly stated on the entry form including the stand number.
3 . A model other than a layout
may only be entered in one category in any one year.
4. A model, which has won a
trophy other than the old Evening Times Cup, the S.P.T Trophy and the
Renfrewshire Quaich, may not be entered again in the same competition
category.
5. Locomotives, Rolling Stock
etc. may be required by the judges to perform on a layout.
6. Where the model is not the
unaided work of the entrant, this fact must be clearly stated on the
entry form with details.
7. Unfinished models may be
entered in a competition but this must be stated on the entry form.
8. Trophies and certificates for
placed or commended models will be presented on the Saturday
afternoon or as soon as is practical during the show. Winner to
return trophies to the competition secretary at the close of the show
on Sunday in order that they can be sent for engraving.
9. Trophies will remain in the
possession of the winners until the subsequent exhibition or until
recalled by the A.M.R.S.S. should such an exhibition not take place.
10. Trophies should be returned
in an undamaged and clean condition no later than 1
hour before the exhibition opens.
11. All competitions are open to
Amateur Modellers only.

JUDGING
1. Judges will be
appointed by the A.M.R.S.S. except for the Allan Cup, Hornby Trophy
and the Renfrewshire Quaich.
2. Judges will utilise the
following criteria:-
a) Faithfulness to prototype
b) Quality of workmanship
c) Extent of detail
d) Technical quality including
performance where appropriate.
3. Where possible, drawings
and/or photographs of the prototype should accompany the entry form.
These should be clearly marked with the entrant's name and address
and will be returned with the model.
4. The Renfrewshire Quaich will
be judged by members of Renfrewshire M.R.C. or appointed by them.
The donating club (Renfrewshire) will be excluded from the
competition.
5. The Hornby Trophy will be
presented to the best of all other trophy winners (except SPT trophy)
as judged by a representative of Hornby.
6. The Glasgow & West of
Scotland Model Rail 40th Anniversary Cup is voted for by member clubs
– one vote per club.

GENERAL
1 All competition entries
will be covered by insurance during the time they are in the
possession of the A.M.R.S.S. , however the association is in no
respect liable for items entered in the competition, other than for
the insurance value stated on the entry form.
2. All persons entering models
in any competition will be responsible for the retention of all
packing and transit materials. No responsibility can be assumed for
loss of boxes, wrapping etc, which should not be left at the
competition stand.
3. At least two judges will
adjudicate in each category, but a judge may adjudicate in more than
one category.
4. The A.M.R.S.S. reserves the
right to withhold a trophy where the standard and/or the number of
entries, in the opinion of the judges and the competition secretary
have not been met.
5. The judge's decision is final
and the A.M.R.S.S. will not enter into any discussion or
correspondence concerning the awards.
