St George's Quay - O gauge |
Most Northumbrian ports had various types of staithes for loading coal into ships. The North Eastern Railway operated quite a few and the ones modelled here are based on Amble, one of the smaller ports. All the buildings, structures and some stock are scratchbuilt, with a couple of Alphagraphix card kits. The fishing harbour and boats are typical of the 1930's with rail links to take the catch to market. The collier ships are small examples of the type carrying 'black gold' to London, Scotland and the Baltic.

A layout featuring three scenes representing a Welsh narrow gauge slate railway from the quarries to the exchange sidings, but the layout is not a model of any particular line. The model assumes the continuation of the slate traffic alongside a growing tourist passenger operation.
The locomotives are mainly built from kits and include locomotives from the Talyllyn and Festiniog Railways, the Glyn Valley Tramway, the Penrhyn, Llanberis and Port Dinorwic quarry railways and even a Scottish visitor from the Campbeltown and Macrihanish Railway.

The Burrows - 0-6.5 scale |
|
This is an 0-6.5 layout, which means that it is built to the British 0 Gauge scale of 7mm/ft (1:43.5) but with a track gauge in the model of 6.5mm. (This is the track gauge used for modelling standard gauge railways in Z gauge (1:220) scale.) The aim of this present layout is to demonstrate the use of Marklin Z gauge components in the modelling of a miniature railway of 11 inch gauge or thereby to run alongside standard gauge 0 Gauge.

Traumberg represents a typical alpine scene, set in Europe where trams are a feature of many city centres, often extending to serve outlying suburbs and surrounding countryside where vintage steam lines can sometimes be found sharing the same tracks. The layout is digital, but is capable of being operated also on DC and overhead power.

Wynder represents a small town some 30 miles form Chicago in the USA. The 'Santa Fe' and 'Canadian National' share the trackage through Wynder as they make their final run into Chicago. The model is urban in nature with buildings from end to end built using a variety of construction methods from modified kits to scratchbuilt.
