Exhibition March 09 Update
As Model Rail Scotland 2009 drew to a close late afternoon on Sunday the 22nd February the organising team let out a collective sigh of relief. Contrary to their worries and expectations the combined effect of the recession and credit crunch had not wrought the damage they feared. Numbers weren’t down after all but had actually held on last year’s 15,000 plus figure. Even the traders were happy!

Long queues began forming before the 10.30am Friday opening time for advance ticket holders whilst another queue began appearing at the pay ticket desk for those wishing to buy their tickets at the door. Many in this queue were wishing they had purchased an advance ticket with its preferential 10.30am show entrance time.

Model Rail Scotland 2009 Opening Ceremony

As always Friday was a very busy day at the show with the usual large numbers of enthusiasts attending. Saturday saw another very busy day where enthusiasts mingled happily with families whilst on Sunday the atmosphere was busy but relaxed giving exhibitors the chance to cater for the many families attending.

Our special thanks must as always go to Bachmann Europe, DAPOL, Hornby and Model Rail Magazine for their continued and much appreciated support of the show. We would also like to thank PECO for attending and presenting their well known ‘Show You How’ seminars and to thank Hornby Magazine for their presence. Our thanks also go to each and all of our exhibitors and traders especially those who travelled considerable distances to take part, particularly the MAK Group and Franz Stellmaszyk who came all the way from Germany to exhibit their layouts.

Finally, as many of our visitors and exhibitors now take a well earned rest, we at Model Rail Scotland are continuing with our plans for the 2010 show; plans which are already well advanced.
